About Us

Cub Scouts is a year-round program that offers fun activities that promote character and leadership development. Pack 296 is an official Family Scouting unit, welcoming both boys and girls of all faiths and all elementary school grades (K-5) into our program.

Pack 296 is a member of the Iron Horse District, which includes Celina, Prosper, and Frisco. We belong to the Circle Ten Council, which encompasses 24 counties in Texas and Oklahoma. Something that makes our Council special is the Boy Scouts of America National Office resides in Irving, Texas.

All Packs have a Chartered Organization, which acts as a “sponsor,” and ours is the First United Methodist Church of Celina. The Pack is made up of Dens, which is a group of Scouts usually in the same grade. Each Den has a specific number and level attached to it.

The Pack is run by registered BSA adult volunteer leaders that make up the Pack Committee. The Pack Committee is comprised of the Committee Chair, Cubmaster, Den Leaders, and 16 additional positions. All parents of a Cub Scout in Pack 296 are welcomed and encouraged to become a committee member. Please speak with one of the current committee members to learn more.

We track advancements and awards using ScoutBook, a simple, online tool that we offer to parents as a way of viewing their Scout's completions as they move along the ranks of Cub Scouting. When a Scout joins the Pack, an invitation is sent for parents to connect to their ScoutBook profile. We regularly communicate with Pack families using the ScoutBook program, so it's important that you accept that invitation and complete your own profile to include your email address and cell phone number.

We welcome you to join us in this fun-filled adventure we call Scouting!
